Within the last 6 months, there has been a number of deaths from cyclists getting hit by cars at night. This is just a reminder to make sure you have a white front light and red rear light. When riding on the roads it’s essential to be seen at all times, especially at night. Adding a reflective vest can easily help drivers see you better. If you are properly set up for night riding make sure your friends are as well.

Please join the Duke University Chapter of the Coastal Society for their annual triathlon which consists of an 800-meter swim to Radio Island, a 6-mile bike around historic Beaufort, and a 2.5-mile run to the finish line back at Pivers Island. Participants may register as individuals for the entire event, or sign up as part of a two or three person team. There are two levels of participation, recreational (a little more fun and relaxed, but still a timed event) and competitive (really out to win)! A BBQ will take place immediately following the race at the Duke Marine Lab where prizes for racers, craziest costume, and most environmentally outfitted will also take place. To participate or volunteer, please visit the race website.
